When you’re creating content one of your biggest dreams is for your post to go viral. There’s nothing like seeing your material popping up continuously on Facebook users’ newsfeed or being RT’ed so many times. It means you have struck a universal chord in a lot of hearts and is now part of internet history. Of course, this historical landmark lasts a Warholian 15 seconds. Still you reap pride in that.
But sometimes you lower your dreams a notch. It’s not every day the net discovers content that’s so compelling it goes around the world. Sometimes you’re satisfied with just being shared especially on the Phoenix social media.
Still, what if even with that, it still won’t happen for you? Or worse, you’re not even being read past your internet marketing service in Phoenix. Don’t worry; it’s not always because you’re in the wrong business. Sometimes you’re just doing something wrong.
Content that talk about you all the time
If you want to go sociological, you can say the internet is a little bit communal. Most of the time things are free, people are always sharing, they always want to know what you’re doing and they’re always stopping by and dropping a word or two.
Sometimes those words escalate into a fight. But it’s not a big deal in the internet world. In fact it’s one of the top modern leisure activities right now- internet debate-beating watching TV and eating out. And the thing about communal characteristics is that it has an aversion to selfishness.
Content that talks about you all the time is a turn off for a lot of visitors. If you keep talking about your company, if you have this self-absorbed way of always including your brand in almost every sentence, people have a tendency to lose interest.
It’s really a lot like social etiquette. When you’re in conversation with people, you would also want to know a little something about who you’re talking to. You don’t just go on and on talking about yourself. Personally, in a social event, don’t you just hate those kinds? And also you don’t manipulate the conversations. You just let it free flow.
Old-fashioned
Vintage is nice. Why do you think Instagram went big? It’s because you can edit your photos to make it look retro. There’s something about grainy, faded photographs that’s appealing.
But not content. It may apply to pictures but when you’re writing articles you might want to be a journalist about it. Have a nose for what is fresh. Write content that is timely. As fast as the day in the internet turns, so do things becoming passé. Write about topics that happened this week and not last week. Write about things that are currently happening and do away with antiquated stuff. It’s like writing about The Dark Knight and not The Dark Knight Rises as if it hasn’t happened yet.
But just like any true journalist, writing well still counts more than being the first to write about it. Writing about the biggest scoop doesn’t excuse a messed up content.
Ho-Hum Titles
They say don’t judge a book by its cover. But you can with the title. Or at least on the internet you can. With so many things happening in the online world, you would want to stand out. With so many voices calling out visitors’ attention, the worst you can do is have a title that’s so boring it blends in the woodwork.
At the get-go, use your imagination already. When you’re title is eye-catching, it’s a promise already it’s not going to be boring.
Still, don’t fret if your masterpiece still doesn’t get shared. These things take time and these things take timing.
